The two-day technical seminar of the International Social Security Association’s European Network brought together social security officials and experts from several European countries, including Germany, Sweden, Greece, Poland and Türkiye.

Ibrahimaj said international experience was particularly important as Albania works to complete the reform.

“We have entered an important phase of work in which we need to finalise its remaining details, so it is important for us to hear your experiences and share our own,” she said.

She said demographic, social and economic challenges required pension systems that were sustainable, transparent and easy to understand.

The seminar focused on improving pension services through digitalisation and automation, including the use of artificial intelligence, online pension calculators and better information for citizens, while maintaining direct assistance for those who need it.

Discussions also covered retirement planning, services for self-employed and agricultural workers, and pensions for people with insurance careers spanning more than one country.

Albania was represented by officials and experts from the Social Insurance Institute and the Economy and Innovation Ministry.
