Authorities cited evidence that both individuals engaged in activities threatening Albania’s national security.

Officials confirmed media reports on the event. Valon Belja is also known as Valjon Bela.

Recently, Interior Minister Besfort Lamallari said that he signed orders targeting individuals identified by intelligence and law enforcement as threats to national security. He noted that these people exhibit dangerous extremist behaviors.

In the ceremony held today in the venues of the President’s Office, there were present the Speaker of the Assembly Lindita Nikolla, lawmakers of the ruling Socialist Party and others.

After playing of the national anthem, the reading of the appointment decree and the oath formula, Minister Balla swore in on the Constitution in front of the President of the Republic Bajram Begaj.

President Begaj handed over the appointment decree to the new Minister of the Interior, wishing him success in his new and very important job.

Two days ago, the Assembly gave the consent to the decree of the President of the Republic for the nomination of Taulant Balla in the post of Minister of the Interior, with 75 votes in favor, 16 against, 1 abstention.

On July 10, President Begaj decreed the nomination of Taulant Balla, Minister of the Interior.

Balla replaces former minister Bledi Çuçi who was released from office. /k.s/p.s./
