TIRANA, Oct 16 /ATA/ The Interreligious Council of Albania called on citizens and institutions to choose dialogue, responsibility and peaceful solutions, stressing that the concerns of citizens and students deserve to be heard and taken seriously.
In a joint statement, the Council emphasised that institutions have a responsibility to provide concrete and transparent responses in accordance with the law.

“Peace is a shared responsibility. Justice is an obligation. Respect for human dignity is the foundation that unites us,” the statement said.
Representatives of Albania’s religious communities stressed that the right to peaceful protest is a fundamental democratic value, while violence, the destruction of property and the infringement of others’ rights cannot be justified by protesters’ grievances or objectives.

According to the Interreligious Council, damage to family businesses threatens families’ livelihoods, damage to educational institutions undermines the right to knowledge and safety, while disrespect towards diplomatic missions and their symbols violates the principles of mutual respect and international coexistence.
The statement also stressed that the country needs greater willingness to listen and a stronger sense of responsibility, rather than accusations and confrontation.

“No party should regard the other as an enemy, but as part of the same society, with shared rights, duties and responsibilities,” the statement said.
The Interreligious Council called on all parties to ensure that citizens are heard, institutions respond, justice is upheld and the law is respected.
“Albania’s future cannot be built on fear, destruction and division, but on dignity, mutual trust and the willingness to find peaceful solutions,” the statement concluded.
