Minister of Economy, Culture and Innovation Blendi Gonxhja said that for the period January – June 2024, the number of insured persons as self-employed in agriculture reached 24,930, with 15.2% more than the same period last year.

The minister said that the Social Insurance Institute and the Regional Directorates are undertaking continuous awareness campaigns in the field, in order for the self-employed in agriculture to benefit from the advantages offered by the schemes dedicated to this category.

Agriculture is an important sector in the country’s economy and an important source of employment.

In recent years, agriculture continues to steadily increase its contribution to GDP and has increased the workforce engaged in work in the rural sector to the level of 33.9% of the total number of the employees in the country.

According to statistics from INSTAT recently published on “Labor Market 2023”, it turns out that 33.9 percent of the total number of individuals are employed in agriculture. /p.s./
