TIRANA, Sept  14 /ATA/ The official unemployment rate for young people aged 15-29 is 20.2%.

According to data published by the Institute of Statistics (INSTAT), the unemployment rate for young people, in the second quarter of this year, compared to the first quarter, has decreased by 0.5 percentage points.

But youth unemployment marked a slight increase compared to the same period in 2021.

Referring to INSTAT data, during the second quarter of 2022, the labor force participation rate for young people aged 15-29 is 55.3%.

This indicator has increased by 3.4%, compared to the second quarter of 2021, and by 0.1%, compared to the first quarter of 2022.

Meanwhile, the youth employment rate is 44.1%. Young people aged 15-29 who declared that they are pupils or students, or in training make up 68.2% of economically inactive young people.

Among economically inactive young people aged 15-29, 6.2% are rated as discouraged unemployed.

Referring to the data published in the Quarterly Labor Force Survey by INSTAT in the first quarter of 2022, the unemployment rate decreased by 0.4% compared to the fourth quarter of 2021.

According to INSTAT, the official unemployment rate in Albania, for the population aged 15 and over, is 11.3%.

In the first quarter of this year, the employment rate for the population aged 15-64 is 63.5%. During this quarter, the total number of employees increased by 5.9%, compared to the first quarter of 2021, and by 0.7%, compared to the fourth quarter 2021.

In the first quarter of 2022, the labor force participation rate, for the population aged 15-64, is 72%.
Compared to the first quarter of 2021, the labor force participation rate is 4.5 percentage points higher, while compared to the previous quarter it has increased by 1.6 percentage points.

INSTAT published the Labor Force Survey for 2021. The data show that the services sector and the agricultural sector have the highest percentage of employees with respectively 44.3% and 33.8% of total employees during 2021.

In total, the number of persons in the labor force is about 1,411,308 persons.
Women make up 44.6% of the labor force and men 55.4%. Employers number 1,248,749 people, of whom women make up 44.5% of employees and men 55.5%.

The number of unemployed is estimated at 162,560 people, of whom 45.5% are women and 54.5% are men.
Referring to INSTAT, in 2021, 47.9% of employees are salaried employees, 32.0% are self-employed (employer or self-employed without other employees) and 20.1% are unpaid workers in the family business.

The unemployment rate for young people aged 15-24 is 27.1% (25.5% for men and 29.2% for women). Compared to the previous year, the youth unemployment rate has increased by 0.6%. /j.p/sm/

Referring to the data of the Quarterly Labor Force Survey published by INSTAT, the number of employees increased by 2.1% in the fourth quarter of 2021, compared to the same period of 2020. While the official unemployment rate in Albania, for the population aged 15 and over at the end of 2021 is estimated at 11.4%.

The unemployment rate decreased by 1.9%, compared to the same quarter of 2020, while it increased by 1.0%, compared to the previous quarter.

In annual terms, employment increased by 7.5% in the industry sector, by 7.2% in the services sector, while it decreased by 5.3% in the agriculture sector.

Compared to the previous quarter, in the fourth quarter 2021, employment for the population aged 15 and over decreased by 0.3%. Employment decreased by 1.0% in the industry sector, by 0.2% in the services sector, and increased by 0.2% in the agricultural sector. /a.a/sm/
