TIRANA, Dec 9 dhjetor /ATSH/ The increase in food prices and rents was the main factor contributing to the inflation rate of November, which was recorded at 2.1%, rising slightly from the 2% level of November 2024.
According to the latest data from INSTAT, the group “Rent, water, fuel, and energy” contributed 0.81 percentage points to inflation, while “Food and non-alcoholic beverages” accounted for 0.51 percentage points. In addition to these, higher prices were also recorded in the categories “Furniture and household appliances,” “Alcoholic beverages and tobacco,” “Hotels and restaurants,” and “Miscellaneous goods and services.”
Compared to November of last year, the most notable increase was observed in housing expenses, rising by 4%, while alcoholic beverages and tobacco increased by 2.9%, furniture by 2.8%, and cultural and recreational services by 2.6%. Food prices continue to rise by 1.5%, primarily due to the price increases in milk, cheese, and eggs (+4.9%), oils and fats (+4.6%), and fish (+3.3%).
On the other hand, compared to October 2025, several categories recorded slight decreases: “Entertainment and culture” -0.8%, “Clothing and footwear” -0.5%, and food -0.4%. Meanwhile, “Communication” and “Furniture and household appliances” saw modest increases, each rising by 0.1%.
