The Ministry said the child had faced health difficulties from the first days of life, including about two months in an incubator and intensive care.

Treatment later continued through a specialised, multidisciplinary approach, culminating in the successful orthopaedic surgery.

The child is now in good condition and remains under medical supervision, the Ministry said.

The procedure was carried out by a multidisciplinary team led by an orthopaedic surgeon and including two specialist doctors, anaesthetist, surgical technician and operating-room nurses.

The Ministry praised the team’s professionalism and commitment in carrying out the procedure successfully.

“Thanks to a new procedure that includes insertion of a venous line from the peripheral vein to the closest heart entrance (long line), applied by the trained staff of the Neonatology Service in collaboration with the ‘Sant Luc’ University Hospital in Brussels, Roden has been discharged from the hospital in very good health conditions,” Manastirliu said.

Health Minister said that the new procedure allows for treatment and parental nutrition, avoids frequent nursing procedures for babies, helping in infection prevention and control, as well as allowing premature infants to recover faster and safer,” Manastirliu said.
