TIRANA, June 2 /ATA/ – The Ministry of Finance and Economy aims to strengthen Industrial Property protection system within the Albanian territory through recognition, registration and promotion of trademarks based on the rights arising from their registration, guaranteeing same protection standards applied by the EU member states.

The Minister of Finance and Economy Anila Denaj announced Wednesday that “thanks to the collaboration with the European Union Intellectual Property Office Albania has now joined DESSIGNClass, which helps in the application process for industrial design protection.”

“Recognition of the Albanian language will allow for control and translation of the products of the industrial property,” Denaj said, adding “this way we keep on aligning national legislation with the best practices.”

Official statistics show that 977 applications for industrial property issues have been submitted during period from January through June 2020. Some 778 out of 1157 applications have been filed by local businesses.

Raising awareness of local entities and information on the importance of registration of patents, models, trademarks and services, industrial designs, geographical indications, etc., are crucial to development of a healthy market.

TIRANA, June 1 /ATA/ Trademark registration makes the “Made in Albania” product not only have value in the market, but is also an indicator of economic growth and authenticity.

The number of trademark applications at the General Directorate of Industrial Property (GDIP) increased significantly during May this year compared to the same period of 2020.

According to data published by GDIP, during May, have been performed 77 trademark registrations by the Albanian applicants.

In the same period, at the General Directorate of Industrial Property in 2020 were carried out 52 trademark registrations by the Albanian applicants compared to 48 registrations in 2019. //a.i/

TIRANA, May 31/ATA/ The General Directorate of Industrial Property of Albania has become part of the DESIGN class and will use and accept the list of terms from the harmonized database of product indications (HDBPI).

Following the decision to use HDBPI, there have been added fourteen non-EU Industrial Property offices in the DESIGN class that use and accept terms from this harmonized database, bringing the total number of participating Industrial Property offices to 41.

The adoption of harmonized database of product indications (HDBPI) is a concrete result of the international cooperation program managed by the European Union Intellectual Property Office responsible for the management of the EU trademark and the registered Community model (EUIPO) in cooperation with its international partners. //a.i/
