TIRANA, July 4 /ATA/ During 2022, but also during the first half of this year, the local currency lek continued to gain ground versus the euro and the US dollar, which are also the two currencies of the main trading partner countries. The appreciation of the lek against the euro had the strongest effect.

The Minister of Finance and Economy, Delina Ibrahimaj, stated on Tuesday during the press conference on economic indicators that the appreciation of the lek against the euro is attributable to the increase in tourism, exports and foreign investments.

“The appreciation of the lek against the euro is attributable to the structure of the economy and the performance of the economy, especially in relation to the external sector, as exports, the strengthening of exports, of services related to tourism, but also the increase in foreign direct investments, have raised capital in foreign currency, which have influenced the exchange rate,” Ibrahimaj said.
