Veliaj appeared this Tuesday morning at the Special Prosecutor’s Office (SPAK) to testify about the investigations being carried out into the Tirana incinerators case.

In his reaction to a citizen’s Facebook comment on the issue of waste treatment plants, Rama said that, “The waste incinerators are modern waste treatment plants which are large investments to save entire areas covered by garbage. Thus, so far, the incinerators are no invention to rob your money, but there is a political slander of dizzying figures and monstrous accusations, while environmental gangrene of garbage like that in Sharra area is shut down and toxic clouds of smoke from burning have disappeared.

“A former minister has been arrested on charges of taking money from the company and for this justice definitely will have its say. But, this is a matter of individual responsibility before the law! And to say that hundreds of millions of Euros have been stolen from us, when the works are there and when the work done is in front of our eyes, and when those hundreds of millions of Euros are nothing at all, as much as they say, then, this is a smokescreen. The real facts and the process started by the real investigative bodies, beyond the slanderous farce of the political losers, will shake it just like the smoke of Sharra garbage! ”, Rama emphasized./p.s./

In an interview with “Voice of America” on the incinerators and the SPAK, Rama said that, “I believe they are two things separated from each other. The incinerators are a process that is crowned with works that serve the country, health and environmental communities and in parallel there are the actions of certain individuals, which remain individual responsibility. For others, we are in very comfortable conditions when the Special Prosecution is investigating and it’s up to it to identify the facts based on the investigation and evidence, not based on gossip and speculation”.

“I do not see any kind of speculation about the truth because while this is being investigated, the truth will come out in the end. Meanwhile, like the first day, even today I stick to the opinion that incinerators are useful works in function of the country, the environment, the communities. The violations will be verified by the Special Prosecution”, underlined Rama.

Asked if he is worried that ministers or former ministers or other senior officials may come out involved in this affair, Rama said that, “I am not worried that ministers or former ministers or anyone else may come out as involved because that’s why we made justice reform. When I said that justice reform is done for a fair justice, neither of the left nor of the right. “On Monday, there will begin the interrogation of the administrators of the three crime scenes that have cost Albanians, impoverished by the economic crisis, pandemic and misgovernment at least 430 million Euros,” said Basha, during a press conference with members of the Democratic Party in the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry for Incinerators.

Basha also focused on the procedures performed for incinerators.

“Can a government carry out 17 official acts procedure in a single day, without the approval of the prime minister, as was the case on December 16 for the Elbasan incinerator?” Basha asked.

Basha stressed that this is the most criminal corruption scandal of stealing money from Albanians.

He addressed a call to the Special Anti-Corruption Structure and asked them to act without wasting time to stop the continuation of theft of Albanian money.

He stated that 17 procedures were completed in 24 hours time only to approve the concession for the incinerator of Elbasan.

Therefore, today the citizens of Tirana are not receiving the incineration service and this is the highest violation identified by this report. In his speech in the Assembly, Basha said that, “For years, Albania has been in crisis. One in every two Albanian families is poor and 9 out of every 10 young people want to leave the country”.
