Speaking to reporters following a meeting with the visiting German Bundestag MP Adis Ahmetovic, the senior Socialist official said that “all the preparations have been already made at the European Council to hold the first intergovernmental conference with Albania and North Macedonia by next Monday or Tuesday.”

“I very much hope that the French proposal on North Macedonia will be approved within this week. This is the precondition that need to be addressed this week so that both Albania and North Macedonia can hold their first intergovernmental conferences with the EU,” Balla said.

Meanwhile, parliament in North Macedonia is set to hold debate on the French proposal to solve the dispute with Bulgaria on Thursday, paving the way for the start of the EU accession talks for both Albania and North Macedonia.

The Socialist official, Balla called on the opposition in Skopje to vote in favour of the French proposal.
