TIRANA, Feb 22 /ATA/ Amid the general price increase, the Ministry of Finance and Economy has launched a consultation process on policies and incentives.

Minister of Finance and Economy, Delina Ibrahimaj, told a press conference on Tuesday that the consultation process has started since the end of 2021, although she believes that these prices will be temporary and not stable.

Asked if the demands of the Public Transport Association would be taken into consideration, with the latter announcing that on March 1 it will pull the plug on the urban transport service for the citizens, unless the VAT on sales is refunded and the excise of 37 lek / liter is scrapped on the grounds that the increase in oil prices has driven their costs up by at least 25%, Minister Ibrahimaj said that the sector has been hit by the pandemic and that their demands are being reviewed with the utmost seriousness.

“We will review the demands of the association with utmost seriousness. At the end of last year, the MoFE launched an internal consultation process regarding the policies and incentives that can be introduced in response to the price increase. We think and believe that the price increase will be temporary, so we cannot interfere in fiscal initiatives or policies. Meanwhile, for specific sectors, we can consider and discuss the effects of price increase,” said the minister.
According to her, the sector of transport was hit the hardest by the pandemics.
