TIRANA, May  12 /ATA/ Minister of Finance and Economy, Delina Ibrahimaj, visited the Labor office in Tirana.

During this visit, the minister met with 10 jobseekers with disabilities, who have been employed or will be employed during this month with the mediation of the Labor offices. She held a conversation with them and with representatives of the businesses that will recruit them.

Ibrahimaj thanked the businesses for their will to employ persons with disabilities before amendments to the law “On the promotion of employment” came into force, which includes a series of obligations related to the employment of persons with disabilities, starting from 1 January 2024.

She emphasized that the government is committed to fulfilling its obligations regarding the employment of the jobseekers with special needs, with the aim of guaranteeing equality for the social issue and employing as many people with disabilities as possible.

According to Ibrahimaj, the cooperation between state institutions and business for the fulfillment of obligations regarding the employment of people with disabilities is of particular importance.

There are currently 2,232 jobseekers with disabilities registered in the employment services system for the Tirana Region.

Currently, the National Agency for Employment and Training is engaged in a reach-out campaign with the subjects, to inform and sensitize them about the legal basis and the obligation they have for the employment of disabled persons.
