TIRANA, Feb 22 /ATA/ Minister of Finance and Economy, Delina Ibrahimaj, stated on Tuesday that budget revenue in 2021 increased by 20% compared to 2020, and by 11% compared to 2019, which coincides with the pre-pandemic period.

At a press conference about economic developments in the country during last year, Ibrahimaj said that the revenue trend reflects the good performance of the economy and good fiscal administration because there was no increase in taxes.

The same performance is observed in the direction of expenditures.

According to Ibrahimaj, expenditures increased in 2021 by 21%, compared to 2020 and by 11.2% compared to 2019.

“Investment growth has materialized in economic growth that is attributed to a countercyclical fiscal policy, which has increased fiscal incentives, investment in order to boost demand and economic growth,” she said.

In terms of revenue, Minister Ibrahimaj said that the best performer has been the Value Added Tax (VAT), which results in an increase of 24% compared to a year ago and 22% compared to 2019.
“This indication shows that consumption is increasing significantly compared to the pre-crisis period,” said Ibrahimaj.
