TIRANA, Sept 11 /ATA/ Over 4,200 students have registered to attend secondary education in 35 vocational schools throughout the country, while tenth grade registrations are open until September 30, through e-Albania.

The General Director of the National Employment and Skills Agency (AKPA), Klevis Hysa, told ATA that 16% of the total number of students enrolled in the 10th grade are girls.

“The number of students enrolled in vocational secondary education is increasing. Currently, more than 4200 students or 5% more than in the same period of the previous year have been registered in the tenth grade. “Girls, who make up 16% of the total number of registered students, have shown increasing interest in the 22 branches offered by professional education,” Hysa said.

Hysa informs that the most sought after branches this year have been Information Technology (IT) and Hospitality-Tourism, followed by all other technical directions.

According to him, there is also a slight increase in agriculture, in all its profiles.
The head of AKPA emphasizes that in addition to vocational secondary education, special attention is being paid this year to post-secondary courses, in order to better cover the needs for professional qualifications at all levels.
“Registrations for post-secondary education will begin in October. They will be offered in 4 profiles in 8 schools of vocational education, in 7 municipalities of the country, Tirana, Elbasan, Lezhë, Vlorë, Korçë, Berat and Sarandë,” Hysa said.

Vocational education is the safe path to real employment, so the Albanian government is supporting with tailored policies the qualification of the workforce in compliance with the needs of the labor market.
Major projects such as the construction of Vlora airport, or the opening of several factories that produce cable systems or other parts for cars in our country, as well as large investments in the hydrocarbon sector, require qualified employees.
The data show that over 57% of job seekers with vocational education start working in the first year after completing their education.
