In a post on the social media, the Albanian head of State said that “The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the fundamental document that marked the history of human rights, today coincides with the 75th anniversary of its creation.”

“It is a beautiful coincidence that Albania is elected to the UN Human Rights Council for the second time on 75th anniversary of Universal Declaration of Human Rights,” President Begaj stated.

President voiced confidence that Albanian institutions continue to protect and promote Human Rights for a world of freedom, justice and equality for all.

Human Rights Day is celebrated annually around the world on 10 December every year. The date was chosen to honor the United Nations General Assembly’s adoption and proclamation, on 10 December 1948, of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), the first global enunciation of human rights and one of the first major achievements of the new United Nations.
