In his post, Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha stressed that Albania welcomes the resolution adopted today by the European Parliament. “The message of the European Parliament is clear: strengthening democratic resilience in candidate countries means strengthening Europe itself,” he said.

“This aligns with the discussions we held in Albania last July, at our conference on foreign information manipulation and interference (FIMI), which brought together partner countries, European institutions, experts, media and civil society to address the growing challenges posed by disinformation, hybrid threats, malign influence and the misuse of new technologies,” Hoxha wrote.

According to Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha, “the core message of the Tirana Conference remains as important today as it was then: democratic resilience is no longer merely a national issue; it is an essential component of Europe’s collective security.”

Foreign Minister Hoxha went on to add that “the European Parliament’s conclusion that resilience against foreign information manipulation and interference (FIMI) must be strengthened across the European space, including candidate countries, is right, timely and welcome. Europe’s democratic resilience can only be as strong as its weakest link.”

Concluding his statement, Hoxha affirmed that “Albania stands ready to work as closely as possible with our European partners and to join forces in the common effort to strengthen Europe’s democratic resilience and to safeguard our shared democratic space.”
