58 families or their representatives, equipped with power of attorney, participated in the public lottery to choose through an open and transparent process their new apartment which is the same size as the home they had before the earthquake.

The residents affected by the new “5 Maji” neighbourhood project have already agreed with the Municipality of Tirana to benefit housing, according to the CoM decision approved in September 2021, based on compensation through exchange. According to CoM decision approved in September 2021, all residents affected by this project receive full compensation, through the exchange of their property with new facilities that have been built or are towards completion in the new neighborhood “5 Maji. ”
Beneficiaries are also those families who have had houses in the process of legalization, benefiting the same surface area in square meters, but in new buildings with completely regular documents. This transformative project for the development of “5 Maji” area has benefited the families which lived in unauthorized constructions, expropriating them 100%.
