Health Minister met with a group of medical specialists who have served at various regional hospitals across Albania.

“I was delighted to hold a conversation with Alma, Lorena, Gleni, Aida, Farida and other specialist doctors, whom I appreciated for their commitment and various specialty services to the citizens in the last three years at regional and municipal hospitals throughout the country, also successfully meeting their contract terms with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection,” Koçiu  said in a post on the social media on Sunday.

During the meeting, Health Minister announced that applications for zero interest rate housing loans for doctors and nurses.

“The Ministry of Health and its policies focus on supporting young doctors, who continue to contribute to their country and the public health system, which has become competitive to the private health system thanks to the infrastructure and medical equipment investments in the past few years,” the Minister of Health said.

A soft housing loans program for young families of doctors, servicemen and State Police officers has been launched this year as an expression of the government’s direct support and commitment to providing decent and quality appreciation for the contribution and service from this workers group.

The mortgage subsidy program, which is being implemented for the first time in Albania this year, has been made available through specific legal changes and will be handled via the web-based e-Albania platform in collaboration with second-tier banks, is designed to help to make homeownership more affordable by providing zero interest rate loans to the eligible categories. The interest rates will be fully subsidized by the state budget.
