TIRANA, May 17 /ATA/ – Lending to households and other consumer credit rose at a faster rate in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the last quarter of previous year, the Bank of Albania said.

According to central bank data, the household lending rose 16.3% year-on-year in the first quarter.

Central bank said that lending expansion was mainly driven by an increase in the share of the home purchase loans, with the property prices surging and increasing demand for housing and investment largely contributing to the good performance of this portfolio.

Bank of Albania also said that consumer credit has maintained a similar upward trend as in the last quarter of last year.
