After the meeting of the Council of Ministers, Ahmetaj said that for the vast majority of household subscribers the price remains unchanged, as only 5% of household subscribers spend over 700 kilowatts.

“From the perspective of progressiveness, whoever earns more pays more, those families who consume over 700 kilowatts will be treated differently. The vast majority of household subscribers consume less than 700 kilowatts and their price does not change. Those families that have higher earnings consume more than 700 kilowatts, as they have more installed energy capacity”, said Ahmetaj.

According to him, about 7500 businesses connected to medium-voltage grid are cushioned by the government.

“If we had left them at the mercy of the market, they would have paid 34 lek per kilowatt, today they pay 18 lek per kilowatt, because the government does what is called price mix so as not to leave them at the mercy of fate. We will continue to subsidize these companies,” he said.
