Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu, thanked on Monday the team of medical professionals, adding that investments in new maternity home and rehabilitation of the hospital will continue.

“The young doctors, dr. Eljona Xhelili, general surgeon, dr. Anisa Muka, obstetrician-gynecologist, dr. Eliana Avllaj, pulmonologist, dr. Erind Cafi, nephrologist, who have joined the team of Kukës Hospital, are doing a fantastic job of serving the residents of the northeastern region, ” – said Manastirliu.

Minister Manastirliu said that ” we will soon finalize the first phase of the investment with the emergency room and the new surgery rooms to continue with the new maternity hospital and the complete rehabilitation of the hospital.”

The new regional hospital of Kukës is being transformed into a modern structure of health service for the inhabitants of the northeastern region. The two-stage construction of the hospital has an investment value of EUR 3 million. The first phase entailed the construction of the Emergency Room, the rehabilitation of the former Emergency Room that is converted into a maternity hospital and the 3 new Surgery rooms with all relevant equipment. The old hospital building has not suffered from chronic underinvestment since 1947.
