Minister of Health and Social Protection, Albana Koçiu, released official visuals documenting the progress of the ongoing reconstruction of the facility, which she described as “a complete rebirth from the foundations.”

The reconstruction of the Regional Hospital building in Gjirokastër is not merely an infrastructural upgrade—it represents a major step toward the modernization of healthcare in the region. This project will transform the working environment for doctors and nurses, creating improved conditions for service delivery and significantly enhancing the efficiency and quality of care for over 60,000 residents.

Minister Koçiu announced that “a historic building of 8,600 square meters is being transformed into a modern healthcare center, which will serve over 60,000 local residents and thousands of tourists who visit the stone city.”

The “Omer Nishani” Hospital in Gjirokastër offers a wide range of medical services, encompassing all major specialties required by a regional healthcare center.
