Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu, along with the mayor of Kukes, Safet Gjici, have inspected the works in this hospital with the first phase set to be completed soon.

“The new emergency room and operating theatres will be set to operation in a near future. The services of emergency and surgery in this hospital will change beyond recognition, finalizing the first phase of major investment in the Kukës hospital “, said Manastirliu.

During the inspection of works in this hospital, Manastirliu said that the entire investment in new hospital corpus is expected to be completed within 2022.

“This investment of Albanian government will transform beyond recognition the hospital corpus. The next phase that is in progress includes the maternity hospital of Kukës, which for the first time is integrated within the current building of this hospital and of course the entire rehabilitation of pathology, surgery, imaging wards. The ward of modern laboratory in this hospital will be completed within 2022”, said Manastirliu.

Thanking the medical staff for the work done, Manastirliu said that in this hospital there are specialized doctors who come to Kukës to serve citizens near their place of residence.

“I am really delighted to see in Kukës doctors who, after completing long-term specializations, provide services in this hospital, sparing the citizens of Kukës the trouble of travelling to Tirana to receive medical services”, said Manastirliu.

Mayor of Kukës, Safet Gjici, thanked the Albanian government for the investment made for the residents of Kukës and the surrounding areas.

“I thank the Albanian government, Prime Minister Rama, who made this major investment a reality for the region of Kukes. It is a regional hospital that serves not only Kukës, but also the inhabitants of Has, Tropoja and Prizren. “There are many citizens who access services in this hospital,” said Gjici.

The investment in Kukës Regional Hospital worth about EUR 3 million euros guarantees health service up to the standards for inhabitants of this area. /j.p/sm/
