The Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro took to the social media on Sunday to share images of a centre offering horseback riding in Zagori, southern Albanian municipality of Gjirokaster.

“Is the tourist season over?! No, it’s not … Look at the myriad of activities you can still embark on,” Kumbaro wrote.

According to her, horseback riding offered by Caravan Horse Riding Albania represents an alternative for everyone to explore captivating landscape along trails and paths that merchants on their coaches have travelled for over 200 years.

“Horseback riding is an incredible, can’t-miss experience,” she said.

Caravan Horse Riding Albania is situated amidst scenic hills of “Asim, Zeneli” village, green valleys, surrounded by high mountains and rural life, few kilometers away from Gjirokastra’s UNESCO protected city in southern Albania, offering a great life environment for 40 horses and a harmonious and eco-friendly environment for visitors.

Visitors can ride on the same roads through Zagoria, Pogon, Lunxheria, Libohova and Antigonea, places of myths, fairy tales and ballads, enjoying the view of Drino Valley and the stone museum city of Gjirokastër.

Riders can also enjoy the beauty of this picturesque landscape with its wild nature, small farms and rich wildlife. The ride goes along rivers, over mountains and through untouched flowering valleys.

Some 12 local households, a network of hotels, restaurants, small units, local farmers, who supply the farm with year-round feed for the horses, veterinary pharmacies, artists, artisans, farmers, small farms, specialized off road agencies, are the centre’s main partners.
