TIRANA, May 6 /ATA/ – A ceremony awarding “Doctor Honoris Causa” titles to prominent international figures in law, academia and the arts was held in Tirana on Wednesday, attended by Prime Minister Edi Rama.

The event, hosted at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet and organised by Albanian universities in cooperation with the World Law Foundation, brought together representatives from the global legal and academic community.

Rector of the University of Tirana, Artan Hoxha, conferred the title on Javier Cremades, president of the World Jurist Association, citing his contribution to strengthening the rule of law, promoting human rights and advancing international legal cooperation.

Accepting the honour, Cremades highlighted Albania’s European aspirations, saying the country is working to consolidate democracy and build strong institutions as it seeks European Union membership.

The University of Tirana also awarded the title to economist Ricardo Hausmann for his contributions to economic thought and his engagement with Albanian institutions.

Hausmann said he was confident Albania would achieve its ambitions, adding that his work in the country had offered valuable insights into leadership and public policy.

Separately, José Luis Manzano was honoured by the Polytechnic University of Tirana, while Jose Manuel Siria received the distinction from the University of Arts.
