TIRANA, December 30/ATA/ During his end-of-the-year meeting with journalists, head of the High Court said in his speech that the year has been full of challenges, but also of successful achievements.

Sadushi said that, “The High Court has three objectives>”

First, he listed the reduction of the backlog cases, for which the High Court holds the record, because it has reduced these cases that were awaiting since 4 years by 50%.

Second, according to Sadushi, the objective has been to orient judicial practice towards the uniform application of the law, where the main focus of judges is security and sustainability through daily decision-making and that with a unifying and developmental character.

And third, the increase in institutional legitimacy with an orientation towards independence, impartiality, effectiveness, accountability and transparency.

According to Sadushi, these objectives have as their ultimate goal the provision of impartial, professional justice, in the fastest possible time, as constituent elements of access to justice.

During his speech, Sadushi highlighted that the main orientation for the High Court remains transparency.

“The justice system becomes more accessible and open to citizens, not only through decisions, but also through the way it functions and approaches the public”, he said, adding that however “we are constantly looking for new efficient ways and means to accomplish this mission”.

Sadushi emphasized that the establishment and maintenance of relations with counterpart institutions and regional and international organizations also has a direct impact on improving performance of the High Court.

During the conference, Sadushi announced that the High Court will organize in Tirana, in June 2025, the Annual Conference of the Presidents of the High Courts of Central and Eastern Europe.

In conclusion of his speech, Sadushi said that his message is clear: “Justice is the foundation of society and we are determined to make it a model that gives confidence, security and pride to our citizens.” /j.p/p.s./

TIRANA, February 27/ATA/ The High Court decided to examine the case of the tragedy of January 21 2011 in a court session.

The ruling was read on Tuesday in the counseling room, after the recourse of the Nika family and specifically of Aleks Nika’s wife, Rajmonda Nika, who during 2023 contested in several courts the decision of the special prosecutors who sent the case for investigation by the prosecution office of Tirana.

This decision of the senior judges means that the parties will be called in a session in two weeks time.

The relatives of Aleks Nika said that SPAK should focus also on the former minister of interior Lulzim Basha, former prime minister Sali Berisha and former National Guard commander Ndrea Prendi.

This stance of the Nika family, but also of the relatives of the other three killed on the boulevard, Hekuran Dedas, Ziver Veizit and Faik Myrtaj, was not accepted by SPAK with the conclusion that the case was being investigated by the Prosecutor’s Office of Tirana.

In November 2023, the Strasbourg Court announced the new ruling on Alex Nika, finding the failure to investigate and judge the assassination to be a violation. /r.e/p.s./

TIRANA, December 27/ATA/ The High Court took under consideration today the case that the Re-foundation Committee of the Democratic Party led by Sali Berisha presented on the matter of the logo and the seal.

The High Court concluded that the Court of Appeal failed in March to answer the demands of the Re-foundation Committee of the DP and the old Democratic Party on the matter of the logo and the seal.

The High Court decided the claims of the two sides can be solved by the Court of the Appeal.

Hence, the High Court decided to return the case to the Court of Appeal, but with another judicial panel.

As the High Court was holding its session, the Re-foundation Committee of the Democratic Party staged a protest in front of the Court.

While the Democratic Party said that, “Today’s decision of the High Court is another step towards the establishment of delayed justice for the PD case”.

TIRANA, December 28 /ATA/- The Democratic Party MP Jorida Tabaku stated today that Albania has the highest inflation in the region at 8.3% and the debt is reaching 100% of GDP.

In a post on social networks, Tabaku reacted to the economic situation in the country, where according to her the situation is difficult.

According to Tabaku, economic difficulties are related to external and internal factors.

“At the end of the year, Albanians expect hope, alternatives and new opportunities! Today, the Albanian economy is in difficulty due to external factors, but more due to internal factors. The paradise of imaginary achievements that says that the year is ending well, and that normalizes the difficulties that Albanian families are going through today, does not help anyone. Today, we have the highest inflation (price increase) in the region and beyond, 8.3%, we have an extraordinary increase in loan installments that are unaffordable for the pockets of Albanian families and businesses,” she said.

Tabaku emphasized that Albania has the highest debt in the region and the highest fuel prices.

“We have the highest debt in the region, reaching 100% of GDP. We have the highest fuel prices, which with the communist boards are increasing production costs and business costs. I refuse to believe that what the government is offering today is construction and they are proud that today it is being built with informal financial resources that are actually destroying the economy,” she said.

Tabaku said that solutions for the economy do not come from the gambling law and fiscal amnesty./p.s./

TIRANA, May 10/ATA/ On the occasion of the 108th anniversary of the National Day of Justice, the High Court released the first judicial act, the Canon of Jury.

“The High Court would like to make a reminder in appreciation of the valuable contribution of Albanian patriots, who paid attention to the judicial system by adopting the first judicial act, the Canon of Jury, which reflected the principles of organization and functioning of the judicial system, with the best international standards of the time “, – announces the High Court.

“National Justice Day is a day to reflect as best as possible regarding the strict implementation of constitutional and legal duties that serve to strengthen the rule of law and protect the interests of citizens,” the Court said in a statement.

“Looking at and analyzing the statistical data, as well as the positions held for the consolidation of the practice by the three panels of the High Court, today we can say that trust in this institution is being created and hope is being given that the situation is changing,” the Court said.
