TIRANA, November 11/ATA/ “Mother Teresa” international airport is now offering direct flights to Heraklion, Crete, the fourth largest city in Greece.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku appreciated this as a new bridge between Albania and Crete, which will serve thousands of Albanian citizens living and working on the Greek island, as well as increase the flow of visitors to Albania.

This new route is part of the strategy to expand air travel and promote Albania as a tourist and business destination for the Mediterranean region.

“Mother Teresa” airport is experiencing continuous growth, with 118 active destinations and a new record on the horizon, expecting to reach 12 million passengers this year,” Balluku said.

From January to September, Rinas Airport has handled a high number of passengers and tourists, thus becoming the largest entry and exit gate in Albania.

According to data in the first 9 months of the current year, it turns out that Rinas handled over 9 million passengers entering and departing from our country. /a.f/r.e/p.s./
