The Minister of Health and Social Protection Ogerta Manastirliu said that such complex and life-saving procedure opens a new path to advanced surgery in the second public Cardiac Surgery Centre in Tirana.

“Excellent work by the team of doctors: Dr. Albi Fagu, Dr. Dervish Hasi, Dr. Ketion Menkshi, Dr. Marjeta Bilaj, Dr. Anri Gongo, Dr. Nevila Çaushi, nurse Eriselda Kica, Ervisa Kurti,” Health Minister said.

Doctor Albi Fagu announced that a complex procedure was performed for the first time on a young patient in a critical condition at the Cardiac Surgery ward at Shefqet Ndroqi Hospital.

“The procedure performed by team of surgeons takes the level of surgery at the Shefqet Ndroqi hospital to whole new dimension, for the performance of which lowering the patient’s body temperature to a deep hypothermia up to 27 degrees is a must. We can openly state that we are proud to have embarked on a new path towards complex surgery at our hospital, which will pave the way for other emergency procedures to treat the aorta,” Fagu said.
