TIRANA, April 9 /ATA/ – By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama underlined on Saturday a distinguishing feature of the left-wing government, the spirit of caring for people in need, leaving no one behind in the most difficult of times.

In his address at the SP Congress, Rama recalled that “previous governments have neither compensated the damage worth 400 million ALL caused by floods in the area of sub-Shkodra, nor paid the USD 45 million debt owed to the disabled, that was completely written off. ”

“They completely forgot to pay the ALL 5 000 bonuses for newborn babies, while today we pay ALL 400 thousand for the first baby, ALL 800 thousand for the second and ALL 1.2 million for the third”, said Rama.

He stressed that “the difference we have made in social care is even deeper than the difference between the brightest of days and the darkest of nights.”

“The families left homeless by the earthquake would have been abandoned if it were for them. Imagine the shape of those few houses and schools rebuilt, if that great disaster had befallen the people a few years ago, when even the loans for social houses were taken by the senior officials of the ruling party,” said Rama.

Imagine, he continued, “what havoc the pandemic would have wreaked if it had broken out a few years ago when the health care was in the previous status quo with people hanging on the railings of the ‘Mother Teresa,’ hospitals running short of medications and people bringing along sheets and blankets for their hospitalized family members,” said Rama.

Prime Minister recalled that “health care for years on end was designated to the outlaws of the coalition, because no one cared about health care.”
