Media reports said Hyseni had been in Kosovo and was handed over to Albanian authorities at the Vermica-Morina border crossing.

The Special Court for Corruption and Organised Crime (GJKKO) ordered Hyseni’s house arrest and suspension from office as part of an investigation that, according to the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK), links her to the case involving Albania’s National Agency of Information Society (AKSHI).

SPAK said Hyseni is being investigated on suspicion of aiding an alleged perpetrator and disclosing investigative secrets.

The security measure announced earlier today was not immediately enforced because Hyseni was in Baku, Azerbaijan, on a working visit to attend a conference with intelligence chiefs from several countries.

Prime Minister Edi Rama, who is in the United States on an official visit, announced Hyseni’s immediate dismissal from SHISH, while President Bajram Begaj formally decreed her removal from office later on Tuesday.
