The Albanian head of state Begaj considered his visit a positive signal showing an increasing interest in enhancing political dialogue with the land of Hamburg and expanding fresh cooperation opportunities.

The President of the Republic praised Albania’s ties with Germany’s lands of Bavaria, North Rhine Whestphalen, and Hamburg most recently.

The meeting highlighted Germany’s support for Albania’s integration into the European Union.

Begaj and Tschentscher underscored the need for enhanced bilateral contacts and visits, including high-level parliament and government exchanges.

President Begaj invited Tschentscher to visit Albania and discuss concrete cooperation projects on investments, vocational education, maritime transport, new Durres port project, and the fight against organized crime and illegal activities.

The meeting also focused on integration of Hamburg’s Albanian community and the assistance of Hamburg Municipality to projects on promoting Albanian language teaching for Albanian children there.

Albanian Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany, Adia Sakiqi, the Minister of Interior Taulant Balla, and lawmaker Ferdinand Xhaferri accompanied President Begaj during this meeting.
