TIRANA, Sept 15 /ATA/ The Democratic Party chairman Sali Berisha issued a statement today ahead of the Special Court in The Hague’s ruling on former KLA leaders. He said he anticipates an acquittal for Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi, whom he described as “heroes of Kosovo’s liberation.”

“Tomorrow in The Hague, following a six‑year judicial process, the court will deliver its long‑awaited verdict on Kosovo’s former political leaders. Observers of the proceedings have not encountered a single piece of evidence substantiating the charges that led to their arrest. For Albanians, there can therefore be only one outcome: acquittal, and nothing else. We hope they return vindicated, proud and upright, as the true heroes of Kosovo’s liberation,” Berisha stated.

In his reaction, Berisha further stressed that any court ruling must be respected, while rejecting any threats directed at Kosovo, its order and its security.

“But threats against Kosovo, its order, peace and security in the event of an adverse decision handed down in The Hague are absolutely unacceptable, absurd and condemnable. Kosovo cannot be made to pay any price for an unjust judicial decision!” Berisha wrote.
