TIRANA, Feb 16 /ATA/ The Albanian government intends to further boost the development of agritourism. The strategy recently drawn up includes a number of incentives for investors who wish to engage in this sector.

Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, together with the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Anila Denaj and the Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro headed to Klos where they had a meeting with entrepreneurs who have invested in guesthouses.

Deputy Prime Minister Balluku emphasized that the Albanian government wants to turn every farm and every guesthouse into an economic unit, as each of them contributes to the economic development of the country, but also of the area where it was established. The increase in the number of visitors is also an indicator of the need to increase and expand capacities. Referring to the numbers, Balluku said, the number of visitors to the region of Dibra for 2023 was 73 thousand, which shows that this area is already developing into a major destination.

“Given that the number of visitors overwhelms the supply in the sector of agritourism, there is great need for more guesthouses, beds and last but not least for more local products. The tourists come to taste local products rather than imported ones. Simply put, this undertaking requires a colossal work from all ministries, from the local government here and of course from each of you who are dealing with livestock and agriculture. On the other hand, all our people have a strong tradition of hospitality, which is the essence of tourism today,” Balluku.

Deputy Prime Minister added that a series of incentives have been introduced to promote this sector, aiming for the number of guesthouses in Albania to reach 1 thousand by 2030.

TIRANA, Feb 1 /ATA/ Another agritourism has opened its doors to tourists in Malësi të Madhe.

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared Wednesday on social media pictures of the “Hysaj” hostel, built with family savings and supported by the government through ARDA and the IPARD II program, which offers an impeccable service and accommodation for every visitor.

“Organized in small traditional style wooden bungalows and surrounded by an evergreen nature, tourists have the opportunity to engage in outdoor recreational activities, while enjoying traditional food made from fresh products,” Rama writes.

The Prime Minister said that the boom in such enterprises throughout the country indicates the increase in economic activity in rural areas, contributing in parallel to employment and their family income.

The support for agritourism and the “100 Villages” program have encouraged investors to build accommodation structures for visitors, who, together with nature, can now also indulge traditional foods.

The rural development support program is designed to highlight the traditional local products of each area and transition to a consolidated local economy.
