Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Frida Krifca, visited Edmir’s vineyard farm in his home village, in Libofsh, Fier.

“At the peak of table grape production, I visited some farmers in Libofshë of Fier who cultivate high-quality table grapes in a covered greenhouse,” wrote Krifca.

The minister published a video from Edmir’s farm, which cultivates about 2 ha of different grape varieties using advanced technology to sell his production in domestic market through collection points.

“He is a beneficiary of the support measure for diesel fuel and the measure of support for agricultural inputs from this year’s National Support Scheme, while he received a grant for the purchase of a tractor and aggregates thanks to the IPARD program, which has improved his productivity and the management of farm works, ” said Krifca.

The minister emphasized that, “we are devising clear development policies to support hard-working people.”
Thanks to the support of ARDA, through the IPARD program, farmers have expanded investments in vineyard plantations. They are also expanding greenhouses for the cultivation of table grapes, significantly increasing production and increasing twofold grape exports.

With support from the IPARD II program, they have invested in improving technology through the use of agricultural machinery, increasing production and significantly improving the standards of grape seedlings.
Today, “Made in Albania” grapes go to supermarkets in Europe, thanks to a well-organized chain of farmers – processors – sellers.

Over 11,000 hectares of vineyards spread throughout the territory, have made it possible for the annual production of vineyard in Albania, including pergolas, to reach about 190,000 tons of grapes.
While in recent years, table grapes have been grown in greenhouses, ensuring early production and high yield.
The main grape production areas are located between the hills and the coast of Central Albania. Fier, Berat, Elbasan and Vlora are the regions with the largest percentage of production; these four regions provide more than half of the domestic grape production.
