According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, wine exports “Made in Albania” increased by 28% last year.

According to MoARD, Albanian wine exports amounted to ALL 16 million compared to ALL 12.5 million in 2020.

Albanian wine made from indigenous grape varieties such as “Kallmet”, “Shesh i Zi” and “Shesh i Bardhë” are the most sought after brands for export, which go mainly to the countries of the region, but also to some EU countries, such as Switzerland and Germany.

Currently, there are 60 wineries operating in the country, spread throughout the territory of Albania. Last year, wineries increased production by 31% compared to the same period last year, driven also by tourism diversification and subsidies from government schemes and the IPARD program.
