Attending the presentation ceremony of “Giro d’Italia Grande Partenza”, due next month in Albania, Prime Minister Edi Rama hailed the decision as a milestone event for the country.

“The famous popular race with a 114-year old tradition will bring together the world’s best performing cyclists in Tirana, Durres and Vlora and the event will be watched by hundreds of millions of viewers,” Rama said.

The government head noted that many countries competed to host the race’s departure and therefore Albania’s selection was a very important event.

“It is delightful to announce that we have received RCS Sport’s confirmation that Albania has been picked to host Giro d’Italia Grande Partenza 2025. I know there are many opportunities for choice given that many countries compete to host the race’s departure. That’s why I am very glad to have beaten many other, way bigger and wealthier countries, so that we can show everyone our wonderful country,” Rama added.

PM Rama said that for three consecutive days, Tirana, Durres and Vlora will host so many champions and whole world will speak about this event.

In addition to Tirana, the race will also feature the cities of Durres and Vlora before crossing the Adriatic Sea and continuing in Italy. With this move, the Giro not only expands its international reach but also highlights Albania’s growing status as a prime destination for tourism and major global events.

The stages in Albania will showcase the country’s stunning landscapes and serve as a backdrop for the athletes, offering a new dimension to the race’s history.

The inclusion of Albania has been widely praised as a reflection of the country’s progress and ambition on the international stage.
