TIRANA, July 11 /ATA/ – Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha said on Saturday that the main opposition party would file a criminal complaint over what he described as alleged government abuses, including the use of the government’s reserve fund to help finance U.S. rapper Kanye West’s concert in Tirana.

Speaking during an online discussion with supporters, Berisha said the party would soon submit to prosecutors a complaint based on what he called “Edi Rama’s Red Book,” which he said contained allegations of hundreds of criminal offences by the government.

Berisha also claimed that the anti-government protests, which he described as a “peaceful youth and civic uprising,” had gained broad support across Europe.

The Democratic Party leader accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of violating the constitution by allocating money from the government’s reserve fund, which he said was intended exclusively for emergencies and exceptional circumstances.

“The government’s reserve fund exists to respond to emergencies and urgent situations. Under no circumstances should it be used to finance a private concert,” Berisha said, alleging that the funds were allocated to support Kanye West’s performance for the Prime Minister’s own interests.

The government has defended its reported 4 million euro contribution to the concert, saying it was an investment that would generate economic benefits through tourism and increased consumer spending.

TIRANA, April 6 /ATA/ – The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Anila Denaj underlined Sunday that recent financing schemes and sweeping tax incentives are a major step toward supporting agriculture and rural tourism investment projects throughout Albania.

According to Denaj, investment in agritourism, their expansion and modernization would fuel development of local economy across the country.

The Agriculture Minister visited the Flumen Park in Berzhita, rural area in Tirana.

“Good conversation with Fredi, the manager of Flumen Park, who outlined progress, the area’s revitalization, employment of local residents and plans to further expand their business. The government supports investment in agritourism projects, their expansion and modernization to help local economy development through the financing scheme, loan fund at low interest rates with government-backed sovereign guarantees,” Denaj said.

Agriculture Minister highlighted that the 250 million euros fund, allocated in January, provides loans at a 2% interest rate, which is expected to boost agricultural expansion.

Applications for loans at a 2% interest rate under the sovereign guarantee will be launched starting as July 2025 after approval of the government’s Normative Act. The plan, backed by the state as guarantor, will provide funding for investments in greenhouses, agri-processing, fishing, aquaculture, agrotourism, and technological innovation.

The reduced 2% interest rate is designed to solely support agribusiness and agriculture sector through the government support, which will cover 70% of the collateral risk for the loan.
