At a press conference on Monday, the Governor noted that, “the shocks we faced during the last two years strongly affected our way of life, tested the economic, monetary and financial balances of the country as well as the sustainability of growth sources. ”

They showed us, the Governor continued, that the sustainability of economic and financial stability depends not only on the work of monetary institutions but also on the ability and capacity of society to act promptly and efficiently in the fight against the pandemic; first and foremost in terms of health, where vaccination and hopefully the medications that will be developed, turn into powerful instruments for containing the impact of the pandemic on the economy and finances.

Sejko said that “the continuation of accommodating monetary and fiscal policies guaranteed the monetary and financial stability of the country, encouraged low-cost lending to economic activity, and eased the burden that the prolongation of the pandemic put on the private sector and households.”

“The Bank of Albania will continue to be a transparent institution, ready to give its opinions and assessments in all public debates about the performance of the country’s economy and financial markets.
