TIRANA, August 24 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today that the citizen-led protests against Zvërnec tourism project have posed a genuine challenge to his administration, viewing them as a valuable catalyst for better governance and stronger civic ties.

PM Rama expressed his belief that governance will improve thanks to past experience and public protests. He noted that the demonstrations outside his office genuinely challenged the government by pushing for more.

Further on, PM Rama said that the recent events have deeply eroded public trust in governance. “Yet, I am convinced that both Albanian citizens and the government will emerge stronger. Governance must improve—not just because of accumulated experience and resources, but because it has no other choice. Ironically, the absence of a strong opposition has been a gift, forcing us to challenge ourselves in ways we never had to before,” said the prime minister.

“The protest really challenged us. I am not talking about the one that is going on. The one that is going on is a conglomerate that certainly has every right to continue as long as it has strength and fuel paid for it to exist. I am talking about that protest as long as it was civil and as long as the people appeared there urged by the need to unite their voices and say: “Today, we deserve more.” And this is good”, said Rama.

The prime minister also stressed that the government should not be satisfied with the achievements so far or with comparisons with the past.

“However, you all should remember one thing: Albania has never been better; it has never been more internationally valued; it has never been more supported by real opportunities to do more,“ said the prime minister. /m.q/j.p/p.s./

TIRANA, Sept 29 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Monday that artificial intelligence (AI) is not merely a technological tool but a foundational pillar of governance in Albania’s development strategy.

Speaking at the International Congress on Nanotechnology in Tirana, Rama emphasized that Albania is embracing AI as part of its broader ambition to lead in science and innovation in the region.

“Albania is a country that dares. The use of artificial intelligence is a core pillar of governance – not just a technological tool,” Rama said.

He reiterated that the country’s national vision, Albania 2030 in the European Union, is rooted in “integrity, innovation, and scientific leadership.”

Referring to the hosting of the nanotechnology congress in Tirana, the government head said the event went beyond symbolism.

“This gathering illustrates more than words what we are aiming for and working toward every day,” he said.

Rama pledged greater investment in institutional reforms, human capital, and innovation to develop a nanotechnology ecosystem anchored in Tirana but with regional and international reach.

He also called for the integration of AI oversight in all major innovation initiatives and scientific projects.

“Every major innovation program, every scientific endeavor, every project must meet high standards and be overseen with the help of artificial intelligence,” Rama said.

TIRANA, May 26/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama, at the same time chairman of the Socialist Party, held a meeting with MPs of the Socialist Party at the Palace of Brigades in Tirana to mark victory in the Parliamentary elections of May 11.

Rama stated that the fourth governance mandate is a historic responsibility so that to continue transformation of the country and to lead Albania towards membership in the European Union within this decade.

“Congratulations and thanks at the same time! Congratulations to everyone for the victory achieved jointly and thank each and every one of you for the added value that each and every one of you brought here, in this historic achievement for the Socialist Party”, said Rama.

According to him, the Socialist Party is not an end in itself, but a means to achieve the goals of development and improvement of the country.

“Nor is victory in elections a goal in itself, but to achieve the goals you need to win the elections. So, we do not need victories to defeat others; it is not a sport even though it is very similar to sport. We need victories to fulfill the historical mission we have, to change Albania forever, by developing the economy, guaranteeing justice, improving education and healthcare, strengthening security, increasing the international reputation of our homeland and making history with our country’s membership in the European Union within the current decade”, Rama emphasized.

Rama emphasized the need for deep self-correction within the party.

“Again this time, but even more than ever, we shall begin from ourselves to properly make up our minds on some things that need to be seen differently, understood differently and done differently”, Rama said.

Further on, he demanded the good understanding within the political force to assure both Albanian citizens and European partners that we shall use the fourth governance mandate as a “self-correcting tool” to guarantee the country’s progress and membership in the EU.

“We have climbed so high and this has happened because we have managed to get more out of ourselves after each victory. The more we apply self-correcting, the more Albania will improve and Albanians will benefit and EU membership will be guaranteed within the current decade”, said Rama.

He recalled that for the Socialist Party, every moment has been linked with the fate of the country.

“We have seen this great family in darkness and in light, in despair and in full confidence, on the ground and in flight. The better this party has become, the better it has been for Albania; while when this party has not been good, Albania has not been good, either. This is the history of all the years of the existence of the Socialist Party”, stated Rama. /j.p/p.s./

TIRANA, May 1/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama provided today stubborn facts that show the country’s economic transformation throughout the 3 mandates of the government led by him.

In the “Eye to Eye” feature in the social media, where the prime minister has chosen to respond to questions of the citizens, he announced that the Gross Domestic Product in the country has increased by 2.5 times.

“The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has increased by 2.5 times. When we took office, the country’s GDP was less than 10 billion euros. The entire value created in this country was less than 10 billion euros. Today, it has gone up to 25 billion euros and the projection for 2030 is 35 billion euros. This is the present-day Albania compared to when we took over”, stated Rama.

If we compare Albania’s indicators with the countries of the region, Rama said that the GDP growth in our country was 109.6%, while in the countries of the region it was 64%.

“We are not comparable to Germany. We started out as the last in the region and today we are on the threshold of 109.6% growth in Albanian production. The region has an average growth of 64%. Albania has made an epoch-making change in these three mandates of ours”, Rama underlined. /j.p/p.s./

TIRANA, March 29/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama presented today the Socialist Party’s program “Albania 2030”.

Head of government focused on the country’s integration process towards the European Union, underlining that today we have on the table a plan agreed with the EU to end the negotiations within the next two years.

Rama focused on several key moments, emphasizing that despite the obstacles, Albania has managed to progress on its path towards European integration, never giving up.

“Four years ago, when we presented our third mandate program, it was an extremely difficult time, after a devastating earthquake and in the midst of a pandemic”, said Rama.

“The European Commission recommended opening of the EU accession negotiations, but one country or another opposed for reasons that had nothing to do with us. However, we did not give up even for a day”, Rama stressed.

Rama also said that he is proud that Albania has managed to influence EU policy and he mentioned the new Growth Plan.

“On the other hand, we elevated the name of Albania higher and higher every year and positioned our national flag where it was unimaginable, even in the UN Security Council. We also built direct communication channels with our international partners in real time and at the highest levels, reaching the point of influencing the EU’s policy towards our region. Specifically, the new growth plan, which brought extra financial support, started here in Tirana from bilateral meetings and was elaborated during all contacts, including with Brussels, convincing them that an extra effort must be made, while our countries continue the process towards joining the EU. In the end, we won the well-deserved long political and diplomatic game by opening the accession negotiations by sitting at the table face to face with the European Commission. Today, we are where we could not have imagined when we took office,” said Rama.

“Today, in Albania we have on the table a plan agreed with the EU to close the negotiations for the next two years. For the first time, we have the historic opportunity to enter the EU, now within the current decade, not in the next. The star of our destiny has aligned with the stars of Europe’s destiny”, said Rama.

“We have never had this opportunity; for the first time it is not only us who want to enter the EU but it is also the EU that seeks to admit us; that is why we are negotiating with an extraordinary, two-way momentum, not just on our part but also on their part, to close in an absolute record time frame, a three-year span, a process that for others has lasted much longer. We must show this to the people”, said Rama. /r.e/p.s./

TIRANA, March 1/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama, also chairman of the Socialist Party, highlighted today Kamza town in Tirana region as proof of governance and support that does not divide people into left-wing and right-wing supporters.

During a meeting with the socialist assemblies of Kamza and municipal units 7 and 10, Rama said that Kamza is the place where the expectations of the people from their vote in elections and the work done match almost 100%.

While praising the high representation of women in the socialist assemblies, Rama emphasized that Kamza is proof of a governance that does not divide people by provincial affiliation, nor by any other form of separation.

On the contrary, he continued, the government serves everyone with the same dedication.

“If you take into account what the children of Kamza have benefited from the persistent work, the ambitious program, the dedication of the mayor and the unsparing support that I and the government have given to Kamza, it shows that here in Kamza you should be calm even if you voted for the Socialist Party or if you did not vote for the SP”, said Rama. According to him, “democrat citizens were born with a silver spoon in the mouth because even when they do not vote for us, still it’s profitable for them”. /j.p/p.s./

In her speech, the minister described this draft law as a strong democratic mechanism in the hands of the citizens.

Spiropali said that, “This draft law is not only a door that opens after every complaint and every request of citizens, but also a door where anyone who has an opinion or initiative can knock in order to increase the quality of services for citizens.”

“This draft reflects the vision and intention of the government of the Republic of Albania to create a comprehensive decision-making mechanism with the public, as a guarantee for the realization of their rights and legitimate interests, within the executive branch,” said Spiropali. .

“Its final objective is to improve the quality of public service delivery and the accountability of public servants to citizens and all subjects of law. By ensuring their participation in decision-making and interaction with public bodies, all this through the Platform, “With you for the Albania we want”, stressed Spiropali. /j.p/p.s./
