TIRANA, July 17/ATA/ There is tourism even in Peshtan, at Këlcyra Gorge. There the tourists have begun to explore the beautiful nature through kayaking.

Today, Prime Minister Edi Rama shared on social media pictures of the Këlcyra Gorge, otherwise known as the paradise of “a thousand and one springs”, which descend from the mountain of Trebeshina and flow into the Vjosa River, where according to him, “Until yesterday no one set foot in, but today attracts more and more foreign tourists”.

Peshtani is also part of the “100 villages” program of investments in public works in infrastructure and environment, in parallel with private ones and which has created the integrated agro-tourism economic model with impact on rural development.

The local residents have started to turn their houses into agro-tourism guesthouses which are quite frequented by foreign visitors and tourists, who come to rest and explore the extraordinary natural beauty of this area.

Peshtani is located 16 km east of Tepelena, on the left bank of the Vjosa River, where the Zagoria River joins the Vjosa River. It is located in the center of one of the largest gorges in the Balkans, Këlcyra Gorge, 13 km, a rare natural monument.

This gorge has a very special rock formation, where the Vjosa rests between two mountains with a maximum width of 1 km and with crystal springs that flow into the Vjosa creating waterfalls of rare beauty.

The gorge is located between the Trebeshina-Dhëmbel-Nemërcke and Shëndëlli-Luxhëri-Bureto mountain ranges.

Peshtani also has a good perspective regarding the use of the Vjosa for tourism. Since the Vjosa in Peshtan is one of its most beautiful parts, the sport of rowing has started to develop there, and every year the groups of tourists who visit the village for this kind of tourism increase.

Another popular sport with visitors and tourists is mountain climbing. From Peshtani, there is a mountain trail that can be traversed by horse which takes you to the Zagoria Valley and exits to the Çajup mountain.

The road crosses a territory of 20 km full of oak, fir, linden forests and endless waters, in a completely wild area. /m.m/r.e/p.s./
