Ambassador Gonzato announced on social media that yesterday he met Ms Mirela Bogdani, Chair of the High Prosecutorial Council, to discuss the priorities and challenges of the Council in the context of Albania’s EU integration process, notably the interim benchmarks for Chapter 23, covering judiciary and fundamental rights.

I also praised her and the HPC for their efforts to enhance the quality in the delivery of justice to Albanian citizens and urged her to double down on these efforts. The EU remains committed to supporting the HPC in updating its practices in line with the 2016 reform and EU standards, and to promoting close coordination amongst all justice institutions,” EU Ambassador Silvio Gonzato concluded.
