TIRANA, Nov 8 /ATA/Works continue apace at the National Art Museum in Tirana on expanding and upgrading the infrastructure of this key cultural institution.

Minister of Economy, Culture, and Innovation, Blendi Gonxhja, inspected the ongoing works at this construction site today.

“By expanding twofold the exhibition spaces, conservation areas for artworks, adding restoration laboratories, and introducing many new facilities, the museum will offer optimal conditions for both artists and visitors,” said Gonxhja.

The existing building will undergo a complete restoration, both in terms of reconstruction and extiror works, while preserving its architectural identity. Meanwhile, a new building has been planned as part of this project.

Gonxhja emphasized that the standards in many buildings constructed before the 1990s have proven problematic, as seen in the cases of the National Museum and the Kruja Museum, where issues such as humidity have arisen.

Gonxhja pointed out that many buildings constructed before the 1990s have turned out to be problematic, as evidenced by the National Museum and the Kruja Museum, where issues like humidity have arisen.

The Minister called for the acceleration of the work volume, noting that the artistic community is eagerly awaiting a space that has been lacking.

Upon completion of the works, the National Art Museum will offer a building up to the highest standards, both in terms of seismic safety and advanced fire protection and anti-humidity systems.
