During the meeting, the discussion focused on the ongoing reforms undertaken by the Albanian government, the clear target of meeting all technical criteria for EU accession by 2027, and enhancing collaboration with the capitals of EU member states, including Madrid, to secure the necessary political approval for the process.
The Chairman of the Committee, José Ignacio Landaluce Calleja, praised Albania’s progress and emphasized that “the European Union needs Albania as a member because it makes the EU stronger,” highlighting the importance of Albania and Montenegro leading by example in the accession process.
The Spanish delegation was composed of José Ignacio Landaluce Calleja (Chairman), Antonio Gutiérrez Limones (Vice-Chairman), Pilar Milagros Rojo Noguera (Member and Spokesperson), and Luis de la Peña Rodríguez (Legal Advisor).
Gogu expressed gratitude for Spain’s continued support and emphasized Albania’s determination to translate this support into concrete results by 2027.
