TIRANA, May 5 /ATA/ – A network of guesthouses and agritourism enterprises was established in early 2018 in Albania.

A growing number of business projects benefiting from the government support through the Agricultural and Rural Development Agency and the IPARD II programme are being launched by farmers and entrepreneurs all over the country, with many of them transforming the private family homes into guesthouses and accommodation facilities, attracting local and foreign visitors.

They gradually enhanced their offer providing farm-to-table food menus and they have built agrotourism packages featuring a variety of products and services for both local and international visitors.

It is the story of a family closely connected to the land, which today managed to build this enterprise, combining agricultural and tourist activities.

“Gjepali” agritourism offers an eight-room accommodation facility, traditional cuisine and direct contact with nature.

Sustainable agritourism and rural development is a government top priority as an opportunity to spur economic growth, employment and revenue in the country’s rural areas.

Albania today offers tremendous resources for the development of agrotourism such as a wonderful nature, climate and rich culinary experiences.
