Albania was presented with the Compliance Award, being for the first time ranked in Category 1 for implementing the GFCM Recommendations and data reporting.

This accomplishment is an outcome of the extraordinary work by the country’s fisheries sector and is in line with the findings of the 2023 EC Progress Report on Chapter 13 – Fisheries.

The Deputy Agriculture Minister pointed out that Albania, at a national level, has embarked on ambitious legal and technical reforms, updating our laws and regulations on fishing, aligning them with the GFCM recommendations set forth in the “MedFish4Ever” declaration that was signed by the Albanian government in 2017 and has been a cornerstone for actions at different levels.
