The meeting took place in the framework of the EU-funded project “Programme for Strengthening the Central Bank Capacities in the Western Balkans with a view to the integration to the European System of Central Banks,” and the bilateral cooperation between the Bank of Albania and Germany’s Central Bank regarding this programme.

The visit by Deutsche Bundensbank senior officials aims at inquiring information about the institutions that are part of the programme, providing a general assessment of their benefit from this program, as well as identification of their needs in the future.

Central bank governor praised the effective cooperation under the programme, which is designed to to further strengthen the institutional capacities of the final beneficiary institutions, notably by enhancing their analytical and policy tools and by transferring the best international and European standards into national practices.

The programme is supported by the European Union through its Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA III).

Balz congratulated Albania’s central bank authorities for the professional and institutional progress that has helped Albania on its social and economic development path.
