Koçiu said that, during the meeting, they discussed the national report on the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, which reflected the achievements and challenges related to gender equality and the rights of girls and women in the country.

“The Albanian government and the Ministry of Education and Culture over the last few years have taken important steps forward in the improvement of policies and programs with a focus on gender equality at all levels, the strengthening of implementation capacities of our institutions and the expansion of integrated social services,” the minister said.

According to her, in the draft report, the Inter-institutional Working Group after several consultations with representatives of United Nations Agencies, independent human rights institutions, civil society organizations, the Confederation of Trade Unions of Albania and international organizations in our country has set 5 key objectives to be followed by the central and local government.

Koçiu announced that, “quality education, training and lifelong learning for women and girls; elimination of violence against women and girls; women in entrepreneurship and enterprises run by women; digital and financial inclusion for women; gender-responsive social protection, are the 5 main priority objectives in the work of the central and local government.”
