The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, invited by his Hungarian counterpart Péter Szijjártó to attend the Budapest Balkans Forum on Tuesday, highlighted Albania’s potential for hydro, solar and wind power generation.

“Albania has important role to play for its geographic position on the Southern Gas Corridor via the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline project. It is a diversification-based model, with energy being a catalyst towards the right path for trade and diplomacy,” Foreign Minister Hasani said.

The Albanian diplomacy chief underlined that Albania’s inclusion in the continent’s main energy routes would provide the country with the potential to become a strategic energy node.

“It is time for us the Western Balkan countries not only work for the power generation domestically, but also coordinate the strategies and transform into vital potential of Europe’s energy security,” Hasani said.

Foreign Minister Hasani, on an official visit to Hungary, attended the panel “Energy Security” at Budapest Balkans Forum.
