The comprehensive renovation is a government-funded investment and preserves the architectural values of the original design by renowned architect Professor Enver Faja.

“Day by day, a new artistic space is taking shape – one that will expand the capital’s exhibition capacity and offer state-of-the-art conditions for art preservation, modern restoration laboratories, and cutting-edge technology,” Rama said.

“It will be fully equipped to welcome visitors, curators, and artists from Albania and around the world,” the government head added.

The project also includes two new entrances for improved accessibility, a modern security system, emergency staircases, and advanced HVAC systems to ensure optimal climate control for preserving artworks.

A new annex, mirroring the scale of the existing structure, is being constructed at the rear of the building. This expansion will expand space for art storage, exhibitions, restoration labs, educational programs for youth and children, and services for visitors.

Upon completion, the museum’s footprint will more than double – from 4,600 square meters to 10,100 square meters.
